About
Why No Default exists
Accessibility work gets weaker when we confuse one method, one standard or one person's experience with the whole picture.
No Default is a practical, evidence-led resource about the space between technical conformance and people's actual experience of technology.
What it isn't
It is not a replacement for WCAG, assistive-technology testing, accessibility expertise or testing with disabled people. It is intended to connect those practices while making their limits visible.
See how this site approaches its own accessibility.
About the mark
Four different forms. None is the default.
The No Default mark gives four different geometric forms equal visual weight. There is no standard form with the others presented as deviations from it.
The shapes do not represent particular disabilities or types of people. They are a reminder that difference should not be organised around an assumed normal user.
